Check in and check out is how you get paid
- pay
- hours
- workers
Nobody enjoys tapping a phone before they pick up their tools.
So it is worth being clear about what those two taps are for. They are not for the company. They are not paperwork. They are the record that decides what you are paid.
What happens without a record
You work eleven days across two sites. You invoice at the end of the month.
The office has ten days. Somebody was off. A day got written on the wrong sheet. The supervisor who saw you there has moved to another job.
Now it is your memory against their paperwork. You are not arguing about whether you worked. You are arguing about whether anyone can prove it.
That argument takes weeks. Sometimes you settle for ten days because chasing the eleventh costs more than it is worth.
What happens with one
You tap in at 07:40. You tap out at 16:50.
The day is saved with the time and the site. It does not depend on anyone remembering. When the invoice goes out, the days on it are the days that were recorded as they happened.
There is nothing to argue about, so there is no argument.
Why it has to be at the time
A record made at the end of the month is a memory. A record made at 07:40 is evidence.
That difference matters if it ever goes further than a conversation. Anyone looking at a payment dispute — an adjudicator, a court — treats a record made at the time as stronger. Something written weeks later is one person's account.
You are not doing it because you expect trouble. You are doing it so that trouble is cheap if it comes.
The five second habit
- Tap in when you get on site. Before the tea, not after.
- Tap out when you leave. Not at home.
- Check the week on Friday. It takes ten seconds and it is the last easy moment to fix a wrong day.
That is it. Ten seconds a week, and you never have to remember anything.
The one thing to take from this
Your hours are your money.
A day that is not recorded is a day you have to argue for. A day that is recorded is a day you get paid for.
On VORDO, checking in and out takes two taps, and the record is yours. Your hours build your invoice for you. You are never charged — the company that hires you pays our fee, on top of your day rate, never out of it.
