Companies pay for the platform and for the trades we place. Tradespeople pay no commission on their rate, because the fee sits on top of the day rate rather than coming out of it. That is why good trades stay on it.

For years I ran jobs the way everybody runs them. Paper hours. Phone calls on a Friday. Everything else was on spreadsheets that I typed in myself, at night.
What used to beat me was simple. I only knew what a job really cost me after it was finished. By then it is too late to do anything about it.
And I lost days on the phone. Who turned up. Who got paid. What is left. The same questions, every week, to the same people.
Then I looked at what is out there. One tool for timesheets. Another for the programme. Another for invoices. Different logins, different subscriptions, none of them talking to each other.
And the ones made for construction were built for an office, by people who had never stood on a site. So I built it myself. Six years of my own mistakes.
What it does is one thing. The hours a man logs on site and the cost on your project are the same record. So I see my margin the same morning.
Not in March, when the job is already finished. And I see who is on every site without driving there. Nobody chases anybody for their hours any more.
And it is all in one place. The project, the people, the hours, what it costs, the invoice. One account. Not four subscriptions that never agree with each other.

Read it instead
The way it works now: the numbers are right. They are just late. The job starts in January, it runs, it finishes in March — and March is where you find out what it actually cost.
And that is why it is expensive. You have already spent it. The labour budget is gone and the overspend is not a decision any more, it is a fact.
What is different here: one record, not two. Usually the timesheets and your accounts have to agree with each other. With VORDO, the hours a man logs on site and the cost on your project are the same record. He sees his hours. You see your cost.
So three things change. Margin: this morning, not in March — every hour, priced as it happens. Control: four sites, one screen — you stop driving over at seven to see who turned up. Trades: you ask, we place — added on top of the day rate, never taken out of it.
What it costs: you hear both numbers before the pilot starts. The platform is free through your first project, then a flat monthly figure — and you hear that figure on the first call, not once you depend on it. Trades we place are a small percentage of the day rate, only for days actually worked, and nothing at all if you never use the pool.
Two things worth saying plainly. Nothing here asks you to throw anything away. Keep your spreadsheet — if it works, it stays; this adds the join between the hours and the cost. And your data leaves with you: it exports to Xero and to a spreadsheet, and you can cancel whenever, with no notice.

Where we are, honestly.
VORDO is early. We are building the trade side and the company side at the same time, because one is worth very little without the other. We would rather tell you that than imply a network we have not built yet.
What is real today: the platform runs projects, records hours from site check-in, and builds invoices from them. We place bricklayers first, and every other trade can register now.

What is VORDO?
A UK construction platform with two sides. Tradespeople find work near their postcode and get their hours and invoices handled. Companies run their projects, see their margin as it moves, and get trades placed when they are short.
Who pays?
The company. Tradespeople pay nothing to join, nothing to find work and nothing when they get a job. Our placement fee is charged to the hiring company, calculated on the day rate and added on top of it, never taken out of it. Paid extras for tradespeople, such as deeper reporting, are sold separately and are optional.
Where in the UK do you work?
Across England, Scotland and Wales. A worker puts in a postcode and sees what is near them; a company tells us where the site is and we place trades close to it.
Is this an agency?
No. An agency finds people and then knows nothing about the job. VORDO runs the project the work happens on, so the hours a worker logs and the cost on the company’s P&L are the same record.
What does it cost a company?
The platform is free through your first project, then a flat monthly subscription. Trades we place are charged separately, as a small percentage of the day rate and only for days worked. You hear both numbers on the first call.
Do I have to replace what I already use?
No. Keep the spreadsheet and keep the project tool. If either works, it stays. VORDO adds the join between the hours worked on site and the cost on the job, which is the part neither of them does.
Is the data mine?
Yes. Project costs, labour and payments export to Xero and to a spreadsheet. You can cancel whenever you like, with no notice, and your data leaves with you.
My lads will never use it.
It is two taps on a phone they already own — one when they arrive, one when they leave. They use it because it is what builds their invoice and shows them when they are getting paid. If it were only a monitoring tool for you, they would be right.
How long before I see anything?
The first day the site checks in. We set it up on a project you are already running, so there is no data to migrate and nothing to wait for.
